[A man appears on screen with a seviper poking his head in and an ekans around his shoulders. He is wearing a plain black long sleeved shirt, looking through some warm clothes in a store.]

I was gone for a while, but I am glad to be back. We lost the things we had saved up until now, says Gaskell.

I miss Ruskin, says John.

[OOC: Snake can also be found in Rocket headquarters later in the day, checking out the TVs and video games and trying to figure out how they work.]

Good! Nothing happened, says Gaskell.

Thanks...I'm glad to hear that, it seems like it's a theme that when people go back home and then return, something bad happened to them.

[A pause, since they were talking about birthdays just then--]

Hey, Snake, when's your birthday?

I don't know... says John...

You don't? Hunh...so you don't even know how old you are either?

Around Twenty, I think... says John.

So, then...why not decide a birthday for yourself? Do you have a day or holiday that you really like?

[He thinks for a moment,] December first. Jude the Obscure and Great Expectations, both were first published then, says John.

Great! Then I'll remember it as December first! [It's the best thing ever to have a day to celebrate with a friend that's all about them, okay.] Do you like books, Snake?

[Snake nods. If Maka thinks about it ~~and is familiar with the same Victorian novels~~ she might realize that all of his Snakes have half the name of an author, Ruskin and Gaskell being the most obvious, especially since the other pokèmon have the first names of those two authors.

...Ah! I remember now! You said you named Elizabeth after Elizabeth--[she points at Gaskell]--Gaskell! So that means John and Ruskin are named after John Ruskin!

[Gosh those are old ones, she looks impressed.]

That's amazing.

[They are actually rather contemporary for him so he can't help but blush at that complement! He had those copies of the serials they were published in, even if they are older than him, they were not hard to find in libraries.]

Back home some of my friends are named, Wordsworth, Webster, Oscar, Wilde, Emily, Keats, Bronte, Goethe, and Dan, says John.

Are you...from a different time, Snake?

[She's from 2003, after all, and she met one guy that was from the 1800s.]

From 1889, says John.

Ah, just like that clown man!

["Clown man." She means Joker, it's just that "clown" and "circus" was all that impressed itself on her.]

Wow, I would have never guessed...we're from completely different times, you know? And even here, it's further off than my own time, it's 2014!

... Joker?

[Because he doesn't even try hard to wrap his brain around the time difference. TVs and video games and the pokègear were all fairly amazing to him, so he wouldn't even know where to start addressing the differences, and his pokèmon didn't think that the things were too strange.]

Yeah, him. Is he a friend of yours? He talks kinda fast, but he doesn't seem to be a bad person.

... He's like our family, says John. [but he'll leave out the whole mess about being kidnappers and Ciel and everything because he doesn't know how to talk about it.

Ah...that's nice. I'm glad you have someone here now, that you know from your world. I bet Joker's glad, too. You can have all the Pokemon friends you've made here play together and everything!

...

It could be fun, says Gaskell.

We're starting up a circus again, says John.

Then I guess I'm going to have to actually visit the circus if I want to visit you in person from now on!

[Yes she's decided this now.]

I haven't been to a circus in...well, ever, but I have had some run-ins with clowns. [Not good ones, but that's besides the point.]

... Would you like to help, asks Gaskell?

Ahh...I don't think I'd be much help in a circus, I'm not very talented outside of studying and fighting. My Pokemon could probably help, though.

It always helps to have people advertize too, says Gaskell.

And fighting can sometimes be an act, says John.

Well...if I'm wanted and if I can help, I'll do what I can.

[It's funny how when Joker talked about the circus she was leery, but when Snake talks about it she wants to help. Friends are a hell of a convincer.]

Everyone who is willing to work is welcome at the circus, says Gaskell.
