I know so! I was here before, but left for a very long time, so I came back feeling pretty lost. Kali, Roger, May...a lot of the Pokemon I made friends with before all found me again and they've been looking out for me, just like yours are looking out for you. I'm sure Ruskin and Elizabeth have been waiting patiently for you to come back this whole time.

Fine! Umm...I beat all the gyms in Johto, so I'm in Kanto right now, also it was my birthday last month. I can't believe I've been here long enough to celebrate a birthday here.

[But talking about herself is boring.]

[Snake nods. If Maka thinks about it ~~and is familiar with the same Victorian novels~~ she might realize that all of his Snakes have half the name of an author, Ruskin and Gaskell being the most obvious, especially since the other pokèmon have the first names of those two authors.

...Ah! I remember now! You said you named Elizabeth after Elizabeth--[she points at Gaskell]--Gaskell! So that means John and Ruskin are named after John Ruskin!

[Gosh those are old ones, she looks impressed.]

[They are actually rather contemporary for him so he can't help but blush at that complement! He had those copies of the serials they were published in, even if they are older than him, they were not hard to find in libraries.]

Back home some of my friends are named, Wordsworth, Webster, Oscar, Wilde, Emily, Keats, Bronte, Goethe, and Dan, says John.

Wow, I would have never guessed...we're from completely different times, you know? And even here, it's further off than my own time, it's 2014!

[Because he doesn't even try hard to wrap his brain around the time difference. TVs and video games and the pokègear were all fairly amazing to him, so he wouldn't even know where to start addressing the differences, and his pokèmon didn't think that the things were too strange.]
